Domestic Violence Doesn’t Skip the Jewish Community

1 in 4 relationships are affected by domestic abuse. In Jewish households, survivors stay 5–7 years longer than average—and are the least likely of any minority group to seek secular support.

“I truly thought the abuse was somehow my fault.”

Shalom Bayit: A Jewish Response to Domestic Violence

In 2024, HFL and Dinah partnered to launch Shalom Bayit with support from Women of Vision, a program providing:

  • Legal advocacy through Dinah
  • Interest-free loans through HFL
  • Compassionate case management for every survivor

Dinah is Greater Philadelphia’s only organization focused on legal support for Jewish survivors.

Why Financial Empowerment Matters

95% of domestic violence cases involve financial abuse. The #1 reason survivors stay? They can’t afford to leave.

The lawyer fees began to pile up… I was digging myself in a terrible financial hole, full of credit cards and high-interest loans.

Your Gift = Double the Support

Thanks to a generous donor, every dollar donated by August 15 will be matched twice — up to $18,000. That means:

  • $50 becomes $150
  • $100 becomes $300
  • $9,000 becomes $27,000

Funds will be shared equally between HFL and Dinah, fueling interest-free loans, legal aid, and community-based care that changes lives.
